There is no end of need in Hawaii as two days of torrential rains on Kauai last month led to flooding and the evacuation of 350 people from the island’s North Shore.
More recently, 1,700 more people have been evacuated from their homes on the Big Island, where new lava flows from Kilauea volcano have destroyed 26 homes in a continuing eruption.
It is heartbreaking to think about the losses these people have endured and the work it will take to build their lives back up from these natural disasters. On Kauai, the flooding has affected livelihoods because of the loss of tourism while the island recovers.
To help with clean-up efforts on Kauai, and help those who have been displaced on both islands,
Ki-eleLoves will be donating a portion of proceeds from May sales of its Kauai Island and Big Island of Hawaii stud earrings to the Hawaii Red Cross.
Funds will also be directed to the Hawaii Island Humane Society that is helping to rescue missing pets in areas destroyed by lava, and reunite them with their families.
